The Best Weather Window in Coquitlam for Exterior Painting
If you live in Coquitlam or elsewhere on the Lower Mainland, there is no doubt that the best weather window for exterior painting is May to September. June, July, and August are the best, but often May and September will work, too, depending on the weather. In today’s blog we want to expand on this topic and explain why this is so important.
Prep Work
Long before you house gets painted, your professional painter will have prep work to do, cleaning the surfaces to be painted. This is usually done by power washing. The exterior has to completely dry before painting begins. That means you need several days of dry and hopefully sunny weather for the exterior surfaces to be ready to paint.
Painting
Similarly the painting has to dry without being rained (or snowed) on. So, you also need multiple days of dry weather during and after the paint job. For this reason, if you want your exterior painted this summer, call your professional painter right now because he or she will be booked up quickly.
The Lower Mainland and Coquitlam have an oceanic climate with distinct dry and wet seasons. Usually May is pretty dry, but not always. September can be completely dry or completely wet. Painters paint exteriors all year round, but for the fastest most efficient work, they need several uninterrupted days of warm, sunny weather. The warmer and drier the weather, the faster the prep will dry and the paint will dry.
