What to Consider When Planning a Spring Exterior Painting Project in Coquitlam

Weather

Obviously, we cannot paint in the rain. So, to schedule an exterior painting project, we need a forecast of dry weather for at least a few days. This is something that you should discuss with your professional painter, as most of us are scheduling projects months in advance.

In Coquitlam, we are past the point of worrying about freezing temperatures, so, now, the issue is a break from the rain. It is possible to do some or all of the prep work for a project while we wait for the right weather.

Repairs

Usually gutters would be addressed or repaired or replaced after painting because painters could potentially lean ladders on gutters depending on the project. But doors and windows should be repaired before.

Colour Standards

Colour standards are probably not an issue if you live on an acreage or have a house on a suburban street. However, if you are part of a strata or belong to an HOA or are working on a new build, then colour standards may apply, either from the governing organization or the city of Coquitlam, itself, which has colour standards for new builds of multi-unit projects to streamline permitting.
